Sustainable materials for demanding packaging applications.

We develop packaging materials where sustainability, product protection, and manufacturing requirements are difficult to reconcile—from paper for the cold chain to recovered textile fibers.

Led by senior specialists with experience at Amazon, PepsiCo, Mars, and International Paper. Meet our specialists.

The material problems we work on

Our work spans fiber science, barriers, insulation, and material processing. These are three areas where we apply that expertise.

Paper-based cold-chain packaging

Develop fiber structures, insulation, and barriers that protect temperature-sensitive products. Evaluate thermal performance alongside condensation, wet strength, and manufacturing requirements.

Material redesign for SB 54

Evaluate material changes for plastic reduction and design for recyclability or compostability under California’s SB 54. Determine how each option affects product protection, processing, and cost before committing to a redesign.

Requirements and exclusions depend on the material and producer. CalRecycle’s SB 54 guidance.

Recovered textiles and alternative fibers

Develop cushioning, insulation, and protective packaging from alternative feedstocks, including recovered textiles. Assess performance, feedstock consistency, processing compatibility, and end-of-life options together.

How we develop a material

A senior specialist leads the work from the initial requirements through trials and production planning.

  1. Set the requirements

Define what the package must withstand, how it will be made, and what it can cost. Establish measurable performance and end-of-life requirements.

  2. Develop and validate

Evaluate material structures and feedstocks against those requirements. Plan and lead trials with your team, suppliers, and testing partners.

  3. Prepare for production

Translate trial results into material specifications and supplier requirements. Address processing constraints before scaling up.

Experience that reaches commercial scale.

WinterMarch helped us turn a complicated packaging redesign into a clear technical plan. Their team connected material science, supplier qualification, line trials, and sustainability claims so we could make decisions with evidence instead of assumptions. The cost reduction paid for the engagement many times over.
